Onyeka Ibe
Onyeka Ibe obtained a BFA in Painting from the University of Benin, Nigeria, graduating in 1996 with a First Class (summa cum laude) distinction. Subsequently, in 1998, he relocated to the United States and pursued further studies, completing an MFA at Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA, and Pratt Institute in New York.
Presently based in New York, Ibe's recent artistic endeavors revolve around indigenous forms and content within African art and architecture, serving as a conceptual backdrop. His creative process involves utilizing dark, earthy tones, incorporating fragments of discovered objects, and employing recycled paints to produce sculptural installations and multi-layered paintings.
